About

Desert Point Lodges was founded by Dutch Chrissy van Wijk and the Indonesian Lily Rachmawati back in 2002. The two women met each other a year before on the Gili Islands. They shared similar ideas and principles in life. But above all they shared a dream of starting a holiday resort, which would also function as a base for development projects in the community. After Chrissy received an inheritance due to her father’s unfortunate passing she decided she wanted to do something different, something lasting and creative for the poor community in South West Lombok.

Together with Eddy Plasier they created the project that you see here today. The daily management of the lodges is in the hands of Lilly’s brothers Wawan & Erwin. These brothers belong to the friendliest Indonesians you’ll ever meet and are always in for a conversation, helping hand or a good joke. The lodges provide work and an income to the neighbours. Any profit will return to the community.

We work closely with university trainees, mostly from Holland, who put effort in the marketing of Desert Point Lodges.
